With plenty of hinges available to order from our online store, we thought we’d offer a little guidance on how to fit hinges to your brand new interior doors.

The “butt hinge" is the most common type of internal door hinge used for handing doors at home. We offer a variety of hinges in various sizes to suit every internal door and with an array of finishes also available, there’s something to complement any interior décor.

Wondering which hinges to order? Our 3 inch hinges are perfect for hanging standard interior doors up to 25kg in weight. Keep a cohesive aesthetic throughout your property by choosing matching door furniture in the metallic or matte finish of your choice.

Once your new hinges have arrived, it’s time to fit them! Use marking gauges and a marking knife to make precise layout lines.

Tip 1 IconOpen hinge to 90 degrees. Hold your knuckle against the edge of the door at hinge position and mark around leaf of hinge with a sharp trimming knife.

Tip 2 IconSet marking gauge to half total thickness of hinge and mark face of door with gauge.

Tip 3 IconUse a sharp chisel and mallet to chop out the marked area to the gauged depth.

Tip 4 IconScrew hinges to door then wedge the door into the open position and mark and cut recesses for hinges on frame.

To ease with installation, our internal door hinges are supplied in pairs with the necessary fixing screws.
